SYYCLISTA Cycling Club has been successfully developing competitive local riders in road cycling, right here in our own backyard of Calgary.

The group started as friendly get together rides during covid time and everyone realized the physical and mental health benefits, along with the development of community spirit this sport provides.

The Club is sanctioned under Alberta Bicycle Association since April 2023 and competes in local city and provincial races.

The name ‘SYYCLISTA’ is a brainchild of our Founder and current President – Rene G, which came about while thinking of a good way to identify a Filipino cyclist from Calgary. ‘Siklista’, the Filipino term for a cyclist, and ‘YYC’ for Calgary, when combined, can be a good answer when asking someone on a road bike in the city: “SYYCLISTA ka ba?” (Are you a SYYCLISTA?).

Our best result this year. 1-2 punch from @romanauriti and @_caseyross_ sealed the podiums for both days in Peloton Criterium. What a delight to watch them strategize around the course for well-timed break aways.
